  • My copy is the same as Variant 10, but the Mould SID Code is IFPI 0142.

  • My copy sounds great. Still wondering why they felt it necessary to put surf wax america on side 1 though. Such a strange decision.

  • Having surf wax America on side b makes the run time too long. Causing only in dreams to be heavily distorted. This version has the run time about equal.

  • I'm guessing it is due to the length of Only In Dreams.

  • Does this one replace any of the full tracks with radio edits like with Hash Pipe on the Green Album reissues?

  • Another gold standard release from the folks at MoFi. Pristine right out of the package (no fingerprints, etc). I'm not usually a fan of colored vinyl, but they really nailed this. The disc is slightly translucent when viewed through the light (slightly marbled) and a much darker blue when placed on your mat. Gatefold quality is outstanding and made to last with crisp, heavy duty stock. Sonically, the album is stunning. No volume issues here. Play it loud.

  • It looks like a lot of people like this pressing, but I just got a copy and it's oddly ultra-distorted and sounds pretty terrible on my system, much like reviews I read of this other Weezer album:

  • My copy sounds absolutely awful. Terrible, terrible distortion throughout. What a fucking shame.

  • Incredibly rich sound from this pressing. Super flat wax and dead silent...Reminded me that I used to love these guys.

  • What genius decided Surf Wax America fit better at the end of side A, rather than its traditional spot at B1? Wow. Terrible sounding pressing, sounds distorted when played loud.

  • Probably the same genius who thought have similar run times on each side of the album would produce better audio quality.

  • The spindle hole on my copy Is very tight, I have to press it down in order for it to get all the way through, otherwise besides that very good pressing!

  • A few pop rotations on one song but the rest of the album is clear of noise. Just love the raw sound of the production that lends well to vinyl. Can't believe this album is approaching 25 years old.

  • So should I get this or the Mofi version for sound?

  • Absolutely not. Do not buy the Mofi version and that's probably the only time I will say that. This version has tracks 1-6 on side A and 7-10 on side B. Past pressings have 5 songs on both sides, including the Mofi. Causing massive distortion on the last half of, Only in Dreams. This versions fixes the issues by having the run time pretty equal on both sides.

  • Dusty Gems and Raw Nuggets being released on RSD

  • Not sure if there is an issue with the Solid Blue, but it wasn't a "Great" pressing. It's good, it just doesn't have the blow you away dynamics quality that I usually would expect from a MFSL pressing. Paid $45 for this and I would expect to be blown away at that price. Anyone else have an opinion on the Solid Blue pressing?

  • This sounds pretty weak and lifeless for an MFSL release. Easily the weakest disc I own from the series.

  • This is also how I felt about this title, having purchased it upon its release back in 2012. When I see the SACD on sale for $15 next on Music Direct I'm probably going to snag that to see if it sounds any better. The only other MOFI title I have that sounds as flat as this one is Faith No More's Angel Dust.

  • The quality of the outer sleeve cover is infamous (a vulgar photocopy). I’ve seen better covers sleeve in bootleg records.

  • I have only seen this available from HMV as a part of their Special ltd Lp releases, is this an exclusive to HMV do we know?

  • You can also purchase this pink "exclusive" at Sunrise Records in Canada.

  • Available in New Zealand "exclusive" to JB Hi-Fi. Seems like a global release to selected major outlets.

  • Hi,i've got it,here in France,for 20€..à special édition,not so sure...

  • In Germany you can buy it at Saturn or Media Markt. I don´t know how exclusive this is.

  • Is this just a blue marbled one that lacks any of the lighter blue pellets? If so, it probably shouldn't be a separate release.

  • I also have a copy, it's distinctly a solid blue disc, not to be confused with the marbled release,

  • My version looks solid blue on the turntable but marbled when held up to the light.

  • the marbling is obvious, you'll have bits of white vinyl mixed and faded throughout.

  • Is there a posting for the SOLID Blue pressing? essentially the same MoFi recording, but solid not marbled blue.

  • Note that Side B starts with Say it Ain’t So on this release, unlike the original pressing, which had Surf Wax America starting Side B.

  • Yeah I've got the solid blue version of this one too - sounds pretty good, but not really noticeably better than the other pressing I have.

  • I've created a new release for the solid blue version instead of the marbled.

  • Less than impressed with this release. Flimsy cover, paper sleeve, surface noise. Buy this only if you're a hardcore fan.

  • does this version have the original mix of Say It Ain't So?

  • They apparently pressed more than 5,000 copies because I have number 7400. And not on blue marble. It's solid deep blue.

  • I have No. 7943 for me... Maybe they'll print 10k?

  • SoM really need to learn how to package their vinyl better. The cover for this release is paper thin, and they sent it in one of those cheap recycled pry-apart media folders. Needless to say my copy is damaged.Just a warning for anyone thinking of buying this via direct mail order from Sound of Musc.

  • I've seen it, and now I can't unsee it. That is quite annoying!

  • Not to mention, and this is a problem with every reissue except the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, but they used the wrong font for "weezer" which is massively annoying once you notice it.

  • Mine came fine, but I totally agree with you that the jacket is pretty thin which sucks.

  • Any one else notice the volume drop midway through Only in Dreams?

  • I have the black MOFI version of this album. I assume since the same stamper was used, the blue marbled pressing also has the noticeable volume drop midway through "Only in Dreams"?

  • Is the black MOFI the version to get if you can help it? And also is this any better than the super well priced one Geffen put out?>

  • This album is overall just really boring and unimpressive. Why does this have 4.6 stars again?

  • amazing pressing! Kind of unintentionally distorted and noisy in places, but it's quite rare!

  • Sounds really good and i love pulling this out to fellow Weezer fans at home and ask if they notice anything different.

  • #017960. although the volume is rather low, the sound quality is superb and clean.

  • It looks like they got the "Weezer" font wrong on this version, and I'm slightly irritated they didn't use the cover with their feet showing (that's only on the original Japanese press to my knowledge).. sounds awesome, by the way, though the outer edge on mine is a bit rough.

  • Wow I didnt even notice that...and now I'll never be able to unsee it. If this press didnt sound so good, I'd be more upset.

  • My copy of this has an off center spindle hole causing the tone arm to waver back and forth. Also, the edge is very rough and flat, like someone took a razor to the outside edge.

  • Not sure if it's because my copy is above the 30k mark but I am not very impressed at all... The top end is particular underwhelming (cymbal crashes sound like static)... A fair amount of surface noise but not enough to really distract. However, my pressing does have a nasty skip during the build-up to the climax in "Holiday". Overall, sounds kind of dull on top of the other issues. Bummer.

  • I agree. Mine is 29215. The sound is very flat.

  • Anyone else hear a pop every rotation during the intro of Say It Ain't So on side B? Only complaint about the pressing, great otherwise

  • Me too, i think that is the same problem for everybody.

  • I have a pop, but just at the end of the song, not at every rotation. Otherwise it's a good pressing.

  • Mobile Fidelity Sound lab killed this one as they pretty much always do. Mind you I purchased this album quite a few years ago when this version was first released. I would have to say out of my entire record collection, that even though this is not my favorite album (it's one of them), that it is most certainly one of the, if not the best sounding album in my collection, and I buy a lot of vinyl reprints.

  • This pressing just fantastic! Perfectly flat and probably the most silent record i own. i'm kind of unsure about exactly what my version is: it had the usual back to black hype sticker on the wrap instead of the white circular one shown on the release pics, it also reads on the back cover "made in EU " so i initially thought it was this release but the tracklist is A1-6 and B1-4 so the record itself definitely belongs to this release (which as far as i know is the only version with that tracklisting order) It is possibly just a european re-packaging of this press.Anyway, as i said, this pressing is stunning!

  • Actually my guess is that only the tracklist of submission Weezer - Weezer is wrong because it was not corrected from its draft. I assume US and EU edition were pressed from the same lacquers created by Abbey Road. From your description you own the EU edition. I recommend to edit the wrong tracklist on that EU submission after comparing all other identifiers again. Hope this helps!

  • Just wanted to add that there aren't any real problems with volume on my new copy. Certainly not the loudest LP I've heard, but no cause for complaint.

  • After comparing this pressing to 5 other pressings of this album (including the black mofi), I have noticed a number of interesting things between the music itself and the packaging. The recordTo me, both of the mofi pressings sound the same, which makes sense because they both use the same stampers. In comparison to any other pressing I own, both of the mofi pressings are noticeably more quiet. It blows the 2002 EU pressing and the 2016 DMM pressing out of the water. The 2002 Canadian pressing and original Time Bomb pressing can hold their own, although there is a noticeable difference between them due to the remastering. I've heard a lot of concern regarding the the quality of coloured vinyl. From what I've read, IN THEORY the chemical colouring used in the vinyl can cause the vinyl to degrade over time. This pressing has not been out nearly long enough to notice any sort of degrading in sound quality. Additionally, red and blue vinyl are supposed to have less degrading than some of the other colours being pressed. Furthermore, Mobile Fidelity isn't known for messing around and I don't believe they would put this on coloured vinyl if it would affect the sound quality in any sort of noticeable way.The sleeveThe printing and the quality of the image used on the cover of this pressing absolutely blows EVERY other pressing out of the water. The original mofi doesn't even compare. One of the major things that I noticed at first was the font used for the Weezer logo. Every single reissue of this LP (except for the 2002 Canadian reissue) has used the wrong Weezer font on the front (which looks absolutely disgusting once you notice it). Finally this pressing managed to get it right, despite the original mofi pressing also using the wrong font (even though they use the proper font on the back for some reason). After my initial joy of the font being corrected, I quickly noticed how beautiful the artwork looked on this pressing. It really is hard to try to explain how night and day the difference between this pressing and every other pressing is, sleeve wise. The clarity and detail you can see on their faces and shirts is incredible (you can actually tell that Rivers has a pocket on his shirt). In addaition to all of this, the members of the band have been blown up a little larger on this pressing than on the previous mofi pressing, which makes the cover look a little more full. Other minor things are that the "Original Master Recording" banner across the top is a little more thin than the previous pressing (may vary from copy to copy though depending on how they're cut) and a slightly darker shade of blue is used for the background. The banner across the top didn't bother on the previous pressing since the cover wasn't anything special and the wrong font was used, but it kind of bothers me this time since this is EASILY the best looking cover art aside from the banner (the full body cover on the Time Bomb pressing is still the coolest though). If you want to save a bit of money and don't really care about the coloured vinyl or the better cover artwork, the regular mofi pressing would be totally fine.

  • I think this is a special record. It sounds great and looks great.

  • As far as I can tell this is the first vinyl edition on which tracks 1-6 are on the A Side, with Side B kicking off with track 7, "Say It Ain't So". Incredibly smart thinking - you can find many examples of other fans with the complaint that "Only In Dreams" has sound issues on past pressings (even the highly-regarded people at MOFI went with 5 tracks per side) so the 8 minute long final track was crammed onto the end of Side B, and the sound starts to deteriorate.THANK YOU to whichever audio wizard at Abbey Road made this choice!

  • my copy is quiet and sounds good, but as with too many records pressed today, it is not flat. I have come to expect warpage from most manufactures in todays vinyl climate. The slight warp does not effect play of this record.

  • How does this sound vs the recent 2016 DMM pressing?

  • I would assume better because the DMM is digital sourced whereas this is original analog source material (tape).

  • How does this sound VS the "ORGINAL MASTER RECORDING" (Premium Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab) version, as its 1/2 the price. Thanks!

  • Mine came with a sticker that said they used Original to press this...mine sounds great...My guess is it isnt far off.

  • This has to be one of the quietest albums I've bought. The sound on this (on my somewhat crappy system) is one of the best vinyl album's I've heard. Highly recommend.

  • Your system is not that crappy then as it is indeed a very good master + pressing! ;-)

  • Let's play a the differences between the black OMR version and this ones cover!

  • Can anyone comment on the sound quality/pressing quality of this version? Especially compared to the mofi standard black pressing.

  • My blue vinyl copy is noisy. I have not cleaned it yet. I will report back when I do.

  • Thanks! I've had mixed results (extra surface noise etc) with colored, marbled, and spattered vinyl. Sometimes it works out fine but a lot of the time not and there is a lot of noise. I'd figure that MOFI would probably do it right if they were to do it, but just curious about the potential noise element. I'll always opt for black if I can help it, but it looks like MOFI is just producing the blue vinyl now and not the black.

  • I don't own the black version, but this version sounds great. It is pressed with the same stampers as the black version, the matrix numbers are the same.

  • My copy has some crackling during the breakdown of Surf Wax America. Anyone else have this issue?

  • Mine goes quite bad during the second half of Surf Wax America as well. It's quite frustrating.

  • Mine crackles really bad during the first 30 seconds of so of Say It Ain't So but nothing on SWA.

  • Cant be limited to 500... Currently 525 of us owning it :)

  • Well over 800 people own it now. Given that, I'd assume that most people would actually own it, plus if you're gonna lie about owning a copy of this, why not do the MoFi version or the original one with the full body artwork? Plus it's a Back to Black reissue, which is a fairly big reissue company and so I'd highly expect that there'd be more than 500 in existence for a record as popular as Weezer's blue album.

  • Yeah that might be the case for sure. Or they just isnt paying attention to the details.

  • Could it be that some people might be falsely saying they have it (or just forgetting to remove it from their collection when they sell)?

  • I heard the Geffen reissue of Pinkerton wasn't good. Hows does this one sound?

  • This pressing sounds absolutely amazing. Well worth the price paid.

  • I believe the black and blue pressings are priced the same. At least I paid the same as I would have for a black pressing.

  • IF it's sourced from the 2012 mofi remaster of Weezer, it sounds good. very good.wanna save yourself some money? grab a black pressing. they're still widely available.

  • Does anyone know how many of these are being pressed?

  • I just picked up #005191, so... more than 5,000 numbered copies and counting :P

  • Kinda late to this but I just got my copy of this today. #004169, so we know it has exceeded 4000 copies so far.

  • I believe it's limited to 4000 copies and that is it.

  • I contacted Mofi and they told me the initial run is 2600, but that it will be repressed until the license runs out. When I asked how long that was, they wouldn't tell me. So I guess we'll see.

  • I've got number #001996. I imagine it'll be a 10k+ run. Didn't the black version hit 30k?

  • Yeah, I just got 2260. Although I don't think the two leading zeros means there will be 100k pressed.

  • There's a new Mobile Fidelity edition on the way! 180g / Blue vinyl and pressed by RTI. Apparently it's already available for preorders.

  • I am indeed. You can find it on srcvinyl for example.

  • omfg are you serious. This is a dream come true.

  • pretty simple question, does any version (CD/2xCD/Vinyl) contain a lyrics sheet?

  • InMyMind pretty simple question, does any version (CD/2xCD/Vinyl) contain a lyrics sheet? To my knowledge, nope. I think you could mail away a couple dollars when this came out, and get a lyrics sheet like that though. My vinyl copy doesn't have any lyrics.

  • Memories of kids playing in a garage: a must-have record from the 90's

  • I got 29,517; must be a high print run...anyway this sounds fantastic. I've owned about 5 different copies of this album since it was released when I was a teenager. Hope it'll be the last copy too.

  • Great Sounding SACD, buy it if your a fan, for $20 USD it's well worth it.

  • First of all, like someone else here mentioned, the volume/output is WAAAY too low and sounds way too tame. Even after cranking the volume, it's still barely sufficient IMO. Sonically, there are definitely things I do like, I think overall, they did a fantastic job on the mastering, etc.. very full, nice low end, decent separation, acoustic guitars sound stellar, just enough clarity, although, it could stand to be a tad more generous on the top end which would've helped give it a more open sound but all in all, it sounds great, very natural for the most part, not amazing but really good.As far as surface noise, my copy unfortunately has some minor ticking/popping throughout which for the most part is cancelled out by the music, but in the quieter passages i.e. "Say It Isn't So" and in between songs, it's very present(ugh) again, not horrendously noisy but for a pressing that supposed to be "audiophile" quality and for the money I spent, I'd expect that to NOT exist at all like most of my Music Matters pressings. But again, I suppose I can live with it since I don't hear it at all times. And yes, like it's been mentioned, the best thing about the pressing is indeed the packaging. The cover itself is top notch and super sturdy as usual. I've never had an OG pressing so I can't compare it to this one, but looking really closely at the image on the cover, it doesn't look as sharp and clear as it should be, but again, I don't know if the OG press is the same. I just know that most reissues these days really fall short when it comes to the artwork being blurry and the colors being off. But having said that, I've definitely seen a lot worse. All in all and for the money I spent, it's not bad and for the most part, it's an enjoyable listen but could definitely be better IMO. I feel that MOFI in my experience, has always and continues to be kind of hit and miss but when you find the right one, it will be worth the money you spend. For now, I'll probably keep this one but seek out an OG UK press for the superior listening experience based off of what I've heard about those pressings but again, I think for a lot of people, this MOFI pressing will most likely suffice.

  • Did you wash the record? I find most new records are quite noisy right out of the sleeve unless you wash them. Usually they clean up quite nicely and end up being super quiet.

  • Its mastered low volume as MFSL tend to avoid compression, which is a good thing. Just use your volume control...

  • Its the same than original copy of1994. For me, this is the Best pressing and better than the MOFI edition.

  • Confirmed. Was hoping MoFi was an improvement. It isn't. Krieg Wunderlich usually cuts great lacquers. But his cut for the MoFi pressing is really bad. This pressing sounds glorious.

  • Quick question: does it say "Original Master Recording" on the shrink wrap or on the actual cover art? Thanks in advance!

  • It says "Original Master Recording" on the cover art itself.

  • #27012, not quite a "limited edition", however it sounds Amazing. Warm tones, thick bass, and those nerdy themes. It's F'n brilliant and I love the packaging.

  • All MFSL vinyl releases have the banner at the top of the artwork as far as i am aware...

  • Quick question: does it say "Original Master Recording" on the shrink wrap or on the actual cover art? Thanks in advance!

  • #22553..... well with that said, what a very amazing sounding record. Very deep acoustics that pour smoothly into your ears, makes me wish every other one of my records were mixed and engineered as great as this one. Easily the most played album i've listened to in my life (on Digital format). So playing this LP for the first time put the whole "how much of a difference can I tell between the cd and vinyl" test to a new level. Glad to say I was extremely impressed and have therefore determined that I will always be favor in for saying that yes, listening to this album again was like listening to it all over again for the very first time. Thank goodness for it.

  • One of the best debut albums front to back. Is Pinkerton available in a master copy? should be

  • Yes Pinkerton was pressed. It sounds great and I think still available.I have 22217 of the Blue Album. Lots of copies out there compared to some other MFSL titles. Sounds awesome. Such a classic.

  • I purchased a Master Copy about a year ago and honestly It sounds really great.

  • #027703 - excellent sounding pressing, glad i purchased for sure.

  • God damn. Wish I'd know they were repressing this. I paid 80 bucks for it 3 weeks ago.

  • This version sounds so much better than the ones they just repressed.

  • Great album sounds wonderful worth looking out for if you can find one at the right price.

  • Inferior to the original UK pressing. I found I couldn't turn the volume up enough to give this the punch I expected. Not up to the usual standards for MOFI for the remaster but the packaging and pressing quality remain second to none and it's beautifully quiet too.

  • I have a cassette and where the bar code should be it says:C105943Mtd. for BMG Direct Marketing,Inc. under Liscense6550 East 30th StreetIndianapolis, Indiana 46219Does anyone know what this means?

  • bmg record club circa 1989-2003 but this copy you are talking about was from 1995-96

  • I have a cassette and where the bar code should be it says:C105943Mtd. for BMG Direct Marketing,Inc. under Liscense6550 East 30th StreetIndianapolis, Indiana 46219Does anyone know what this means?

  • You own Weezer - Weezer - the BMG club edition of the album on cassette.

  • #023249... best version of the album ive ever heard

  • #8925 here! Lovely pressing, amazing album.

  • #23,914 checking in.Album brought back many good memories. Killer quality, a must-have edition.

  • #20,928 checking in, so it's more than 20K for sure. Why does this beast feel so much heavier than other 180g releases? Lol.

  • I have #627, an amazing recording as others have stated!

  • # 20215 and I agree with others, this album sounds amazing!

  • The sound of this album is THE definitive repress. I love hearing the "chunky" guitar riffs and River's vocals shine like never before.

  • 19706 here. Anyone who might be wondering, this album release is of EPIC quality. Buy it!

  • 18465my guess is 20k?

  • I have #19328. Super deep bass on this release, the kick hits right in the chest.

  • I have #15401. Does anyone know how many were pressed? I can't seem to find that information anywhere...

  • They will keep pressing until their license runs out, basically when it's no longer profitable to keep pressing.

  • Mine's #008305

  • Copy #14155 here LOL

  • Does anyone know how many pressings were made in total?

  • Great source material, on an outstanding sounding piece of wax. That bass guitar tone in the Say It Ain't So verses! So good. I have number 9347. This is my first MFSL record and I will buying more.

  • I was very impressed by the quality of this. Never really enjoyed Weezer until I heard this pressing! Surprised nobody else has this release.

  • Great sounding pressing, lots of depth and punchy bass / kicks. A great way to listen to one of my all time favourite albums.

  • This is a really great sounding album. If you're a weezer fan you gotta have this. This is one of the discs I use to show off my speakers. My copy is # 5951.

  • Marvelous pressing! MFSL never disappoints on their releases and this is no exception. I hold a copy # 4177

  • I bought this from eBay, a seller in Switzerland. It was factory sealed with no outer stickers. The quality is fairly poor. I had a skip in "Buddy Holly" and lost left channel in parts of "The World Has Turned"Looking forward to getting the MoFI reissue I've ordered!

  • I have this version and it sounds absolutely fine, nice dynamic range, crunchy guitars, clear singing. No problems, great.

  • i bought this a few months ago as well. universal's quality control is crap! same issues with skips & anomalies on this release & amy winehouse back to black. i also ordered the MOFI version. should be here today!

  • This is the copy I own. I always thought it was an original 1994 pressing, but this entry says 'reissue'. Any idea what year it was actually made? My wife acquired it for me as an Xmas present in 2003, and she was led to believe it was an 'original' pressing.

  • No worries about the late response. I've still been curious about this. Thanks!

  • Mega late response, but this pressing was released in 2002.

  • There are not many records that i deem to be perfect, that is, every song is great. Weezer's self titled debut in my opinion is flawless. At only 10 songs, its short and oh so sweet. of the 10, about 4 id deem to be absolute classics; the rest are still great songs in their own right. its an eminently re-listenable album, and its shortness means you can easily listen to the whole thing start to finish in one sitting....and then maybe listen to the whole thing again! its that good. picked it up in the $10 bargain bin and my lord it was worth every penny and then some.
