Исполнитель: Oasis. What's the Story Morning Glory is the second studio album by English rock band Oasis. Released on 2 October 1995 by Creation Records, it was produced by Owen Morris and the group's guitarist and main songwriter Noel Gallagher. The structure and arrangement style of the album were a significant departure from the group's previous album Definitely Maybe 1994. Gallagher's compositions were more focused in balladry and placed more emphasis on huge choruses, with the string arrangements and more. Формируйте собственную коллекцию. And whats most striking about listening to Whats the Story Morning Glory today is how, at the height of their powers, Oasis seemed to be bracing for their own eventual downfall. The tone of the album is decidedly darker. And while Noel still deals in absurdist metaphor here how exactly does one slowly walk down the hall faster than a cannonball, he also emerges as a more personable, sobering foil to brother Liams bratty swagger-not just on his showstopping star turn on Dont Look Back in Anger , but also in the way his backing vocals imbue Cast. No Shadow with a deeper sense of despair. Yeah, Oasis have discovered their feminine side on Whats the Story Morning Glory, but that doesnt mean they cant still rock. Hello is bent and stretched by wiggy wah-wah guitars and a shuffling beat, ending with a Gary Glitter chorus lifted verbatim from the original. The title cut starts with helicopters and static, then bursts into an invigorating riff that circles endlessly over wailing guitar echoes and hedonistic lyrics. Theres the obligatory T. Rex ode Some Might Say and the whimsical Shes Electric, which ends with a passage nicked straight from With a Little Help From My. Listen free to Oasis What's the Story Morning Glory Hello, Roll With It and more. 12 tracks 50:05. What's the Story Morning Glory is the second album by the English rock band Oasis. • Is someone know if a Morning Glory 25th birthday LP album is planned for this year ?

  • Wall-of-sound mix that sounds great cranked, on my stereo anyway. Very warm-sounding, open, holographic & has good thump on the drumkit. Nice pressing job by United, as the vinyl is dead-silent. Many songs are wonderfully W-I-D-E in stereo. Why so many people **** & moan about the sound of this album is beyond me. Certainly there is some distortion & compression to the sound, but that IS the sound of Oasis, for fooks sake. It should sound like a bar-band cranked to 11 man. Bloody hell...

  • This edition is sound-like awful. I've never owned an LP that sounds worse. The music sounds like from an old MW radio. LP2 is also concavely deformed, so that it is only lying on the label on page 1. I bought this on Amazon Germany. I will exchange the LP.

  • Anyone have an idea where to get this GZ pressed version in the US? I ordered 2 from amazon US and it’s still the 2014 United pressing. Thanks in advance!

  • My copy sounds fine. Is it a MoFi release? No. But the original source material was clearly mixed hot, and yes, it's apparent in the LP release as well. It is not a detriment to the listening experience. It was meant to be played loud and was mastered that way. The red book version is no different, it was obviously what they were going for with the album. There's nothing wrong with this release outside of the janky tri-fold jacket. The spindle hole on A/B was very tight, but this seems to be par for the course with anything that comes out of NRP. Very minimal surface noise. Either people are getting really shit pressings, or they've never listened to the CD.

  • Got this from Amazon, one of the worst pressings I've ever owned... Actually no, it's the worst. Great album, I was happy to have it but the sound is muffled and just all out bad. Avoid this pressing it's garbage.

  • makes me wish i had kept my original copy bought in 1995 UK Pressing,, played it once then left sat in my record box and one of those days when i was skint and sold it for £85,, am glad those days are behind me and now have a great collection minus this LP,, don't make my mistake! if you got an original then record it to WAV and store it away as the Original will be selling for £500 plus,, if you got another 20 years to invest then keep it as i have heard the degraded repress and you can't beat the original organic feel the original has,,,

  • I’ve been holding off on the 2014 release due to all of the flack that it’s gotten and I’m glad that I held out for this one. I was not expecting perfection, but this pressing exceeds my expectations. The other two Big Brother Oasis releases that I currently own are also quite good so, I will most likely pick up their whole Oasis lineup eventually. This pressing is quiet and well made with beautiful white vinyl and a nice quality jacket. I’m not a big fan of the tri-fold jacket for convenience’s sake, but it still looks cool. The sound quality is very good with no real signs of compression or distortion. My turntable reproduces bass well, so I didn’t experience an issue with a lack of bass like a fair amount of people have mentioned and the drums don’t seem any less prominent than they always have on the CD. Realistically, most any Oasis recordings have got to be very difficult to master and bring out individual instruments. Plus everyone has their preferences of how loud certain things should be in the mix. Either way, I think they did a good job with this one and I would certainly recommend it.

  • Overall I am disappointed by this release. It is nicely packaged and reasonably priced (at the time of writing), but the discs were very dirty and presented micro damages (bought new and sealed). Besides, the inner sleeves are made of a particularly harsh cardboard that further cosmetically scratched the records when first taken out (they are now in Nagaoka sleeves). From an audio point of view the album sounds good, but I was expecting something extra from spreading it across 2 discs and in the end there was nothing special - at least on my setup. Maybe I got a bad copy, but I found whole experience underwhelming.

  • Geez. Guess I’m in the tiny, tiny minority. I’m a stickler for sound and thought this was very decent. On my system the soundscape was wide and pleasing. Also loud and in your face as expected. For the price and availability, I think this is a good buy. However, I thought the newest white pressing was horrendous. Absolutely teeny-tiny sound. Low end is non existent. Then again, I seem to be in the minority.

  • Where are the bass and the drums ? There is no dynamics, bad, don't buy it !!

  • Just FYI, seems this version does not contain a digital download code.

  • This is a very nice pressing. Flat, perfectly centred, no pops or noise. Great job by GZ.

  • I’m in the minority here, but I really do not recommend this pressing. To my ears, it’s ear-piercingly high in treble. Even though this is common with some Oasis vinyl, it’s very apparent on this pressing. I feel the 2014 pressing is much more balanced (and cheaper). Also, the packaging is a step down. Gone is the nice hefty 180g vinyl, heavy cardboard glossy outer and inner sleeves. This pressing is cheapy, lightweight cardboard and plain rough inner sleeves. Not worth the high price. White vinyl looks nice, but that’s it.

  • My copy has nothing that refers to the year 2018, but it has only the year 2014.

  • If this is the worst-sounding album you have, you must not have any experience with the true lows of vinyl (I.E picture discs or the occasional albums that come with TERRIBLE inner sleeves that would need a miracle to look unscathed coming out of them). My pressing sounds quite good; I enjoy the punchy instrumentation (looking at you, bass) and up-front vocals. Just crank it up and enjoy! ????

  • Interesting. It seems that I either have a diamond in the rough or a number of these reviewers received dud copies.

  • i have thriller on picture disc and it sounds way better than this

  • Any idea if this release is an 180Gram-vinyl? Wondering because the hype sticker doesn’t say it

  • I really don't know if all you are deaf or what BUT the CD version of this album sounded loud, and compressed back in 1995, thus the vinyl version ain't no exception. Saying this, they did a decent version on this reissue. If you expect to hear Dark side of the Moon dynamic wise, look somewhere else. This album was meant to be played loud with no dynamics. Check you rig. I do not have a fancy one (Technics 1200, Grado Blue with updated needle). It sounds they way it supposed to sound (i heard the album way too many times on CD and digitally). I have not heard the 2018 UO version but this 2014 version is quiet...sounds good to me. The WG mastering version is the one I own.

  • Just got this better get it before it was gone gone I realized. I agree this is definitely a step up from 2014 pressing.Agree with what was said below. This is the copy to own if you don't have an original.

  • If I can declare myself a fan of a band, this is the led by Liam and Noel Gallagher. Two brothers who, although they insist on avoiding it, are much better together than separately because together they made history. Oasis came to raze with the exceptional "Definitely Maybe" (Creation, 94), to return to the stage a year later with a continuation that would be the global conquest achieved with perfect melodies ("She's Electric", "Wonderwall" ), epic hymns ("Do not Look Back In Anger", "Roll With It"), irresistible half-timers ("Cast No Shadow", "Hey Now"), and electric lashes ("Some Might Say", "Morning Glory", “Hello"). Not much more to say. Push play and enjoy its themes.Instagram: @musicaligera

I do not have a fancy one (1200, sumiko pearl cartridge). It sounds they way it supposed to sound. I have not heard the 2018 UO version but this 2014 version is quiet, sounds good to me.

  • My experience with it is that the remastered version sounded more compressed and even muffled at times, strange when comparing it to the loud and compressed original CD / LP mixes.

  • Agreed, as I recall the initial release was completely brick walled. This doesn't sound much different.

  • This is the worst pressing I've ever heard. Sounds like a mp3-file

  • Good quality pressing. OK mastering. As others have noted, the bass is a bit flat, though that's probably true of the source material. Seems they could have pushed the dynamic range on this a bit more given they split it across 2 LPs. Still, it sounds good and it's a nice, quiet pressing.

  • The 2018 UO reissue is definitely not from the same master as the 2014 release. The UO reissue features the crossfade from the first untitled track into the Bonehead's Bank Holiday track like the original vinyl issues. The 2014 remaster featured a lazy edit of tacking the deluxe bonus track version onto the end of the new remaster of track 6, interrupting the CD crossfade between Untitled and Some Might Say. Also, the sleeve is different than the 2014 with a wider spine and matte inner sleeves intead of glossy, even though the barcode strangely matches the 2014.

  • Confirming what the rest have said. Muddy and compressed with no life. Why didn't they do this right? I know it's all about the money and it was easy for them to just get the album on Vinyl and get it released, but FUCK!, this is such an injustice to a wonderful album. Another time where I didn't read the comments before buying, stupid me because this was a waste of money.

  • Holds a special place in my heart, one of the first rock release I ever possessed. Maybe not the best but a lot of special songs in it (Some might say, Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova).

  • Still available here, already being listed for way over retail price :( https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shop/oasis-whats-the-story-morning-glory-limited-2xlp?category=vinyl-cassettes&color=010

  • Thank you!! Much cheaper than the marketplace. Wonder how really limited it is.

  • Sounds ok. Not bad but not great. Bass is undefined and the drums are a little weak, have to turn it up more than usual. Doesn't really sound compressed or thin, just the separation and clarity are not the best. Mastering is definitely on the rougher side and tends to emphasize the mid range which reveals nice detail but cuts down the dynamics of the treble a bit. Vocals sound strange sometimes. On the plus side it does sound a lot better than the digital files I have which are just a congested mess...the vinyl is more revealing and has a much better sound stage. IMO, though, this record definitely needs a larger drum stage and more defined bass to drive its hard rock sound or otherwise the music sounds weak. Pressing is flawless though. Flat, silent, centered. Like I said...not bad but there is definitely room for improvement on the mastering.

  • Finally got around to listening to this.Overall the pressing is pretty good. The vinyl itself is quiet and I didn't hear many pops or anything; even during the quiet spots (which there aren't many of).I think it's better than the 2014 remaster, but not on par with the originals or the 2009 reissue. It sounds somewhat distorted, but most of their music till Standing did. If you want a good sounding pressing I would chose this over the 2014 remaster.

  • Update.... Soon after I did a review I went and compared this to the 2014 remaster. This one (to me) is much better. While few mixes aren't the best begin with (Roll With It and Some Might Say), they are better than the 2014 one. The distortion I mentioned before was really only on Roll With It and Some Might Say.All in all this is a nice pressing. If you have the 2009 reissue it sounds a bit more like that pressing over the 2014 one.

  • My copy sounds very good - much better than the shitty 2014 pressing - my deadwax only has the marking 138501E - very hard to see as the record is white.

  • The remasters aren't great (Their first 3 albums), but the reissues from Masterplan onward are fine for the most part (I still prefer the originals).I'm looking forward to hearing this one today at some point.

  • Just grabbed the white urban outfitters version - matrix reads 138501E - not sure where this was pressed but coming out of my B&W speakers I can definitely say it sounds better than the 2014 pressing which I unloaded after a few days.

  • I can confirm the 2018 UO reissue is not from the same master.

  • Is it really good? I asked UO about the pressing, and they said it would be made from the same lacquer as the 2014 pressing.

  • Really unimpressed when I first played it upon purchase. Fancied some oasis this evening and stuck this on my Rega P3. The pressing isnt very good at all. Sounds like it's being played with my needle settings with way too much weight and uncentered. It's barely ok for a low budget setup but to be honest the quality in this pressing is only in the outer sleeve. I'll have to decide which child to sell so I can buy an original.

  • Great record ! LOve Oasis ! Everytime I go to ENgland I sing these songs, like the what's the story morning glory need a little time to wake up so sally can wait she knows its too late. Legendary album, very nice ! and it is amazing to have it on vinyl with great sound, completely recommend it, I hope someday I can run into Noel and then Liam (obviously won't run into them together) and they can sign it ! buy this album you won't regret it, absolutley love it ! When I listen to WOnderwall it makes me wish I would live in England and sit in my London flat enjoying a pint listening to this record ! Saying hi to my friendly British neighboors and talk about soccer or the EU or the Queen or the Rolling Stones, or anything English to be honest !

  • I ordered a copy ($45 with shipping), with insane hope that it is not cut from the same lacquers as the 2014 remaster 2xLP, which was terrible. I have no way of knowing until it's in my hands.

  • If you have $130+ to pick up an original, you have to do it. But if you want to spent only $22, want to hear Oasis in wax and don't want to wait for the 30th anniversary edition, you won't regret buying this.Records are dirty as hell, tho.

  • Got the original Trifold covered album bought 1997. Listened only 2,3 times to that piece but it's a real well made album. Only that the innersleeves are just heavy without any plastic lines inside. Must be the MPO pressing cause of the die-cut innersleeves. What's the difference between MPO and the DAMONT pressing. Anythinf that makes a differnce in the quality? By the way in the description stands "heavyweight vinyl" but nothing if it's 180gram or so..Thanks to anyone who can tell!

  • I got a copy of this album which looks absolutely like an original pressing, except the label on side b. The writing on the edge is blurry and somewhat hard to read. Could this be due to a pressing error? The other three labels look exactly like the ones on my other (100% original) copy. The seller says, that he bought the record in 2003 / 2004.

  • Disgusting pressing. Should've looked here before shelling out 30 bucks for this mess. Pock marks and scuffing galore. I haven't even listened to it yet but this visual inspection all but confirms it'll sound like shit. United deserves to go up in flames.

  • Sounds like you were lucky. I got mine with no digital code for all the extra stuff that was advertised. It's not like this was some "special edition" that didn't have the card, it was advertised on the shrink wrap. All I can say is that after having gotten ripped off so blatantly and after so many other disappointments with modern vinyl reissues in the sound department, I'm not getting any of these reissues unless they are CONFIRMED by multiple reliable sources to be worth buying, have excellent sound quality, and won't include half of the advertised contents.

  • Got my copy from Virgin Megastore, London, direct from the band, after their midnight live performance on the night of the launch. Got it signed by Liam, Noel and Alan. I wonder how much THAT is worth?

  • Sounds almost like i'm playing it through the crappy little cd player I would have owned back when this came out as a teenager. lolVery muddy and flat. No life to it at all really. No pops/clicks, but the sealed records were pretty dirty with visible light scuffs.

  • This Remastered version sounds terrible! A smattering of crap/crud/veiled/muddy/lifeless sound. What source material was used? There's virtually no life to the music at all. Sounds like it was recorded on a Crosby. Shite!!!

  • What is the difference between Damont and MPO pressings? Is their a true original between them? Does one sound better than the other? Sorry if already covered.

  • I bought an original of this CD before the better sounding remaster came out. My copy sound ok for the price.

  • Got a nm copy for 20€. It sounds very good so far except the last two songs. The instrumantal endings of Morning Glory and Champagne Supernova sound terrible - maybe it's because they're the loudest pieces of music on this album. Don't know what happened here. Every other song sounds fine. Will definitely prefer this over the 2014 repress and my first press (g+ condition).EDIT: Gave side D a second listen - sounds far better now. My setup hasn't changed since the last listen.

  • Just came back from the store i bought it this morning for a refund..both vinyl were dished and sound was flat .Glad i have my 33€ back.Tested with 2M BlueAvoid

  • Do the bootlegs also have the „CRE LP 189 Damont“ etching? Can anyone upload or link a high res picture of the „unsharp“ cover? Thanks!

  • Only the real copy has Damont and cat number etched correctly. The cat number and side info are on the opposite side to the 'Damont' etching.

  • My copy was purchased around 2000 In Europe and has an RKID cat# and barcode sticker affixed over the original Creation barcode. All other details are identical to this listing. I assume this is a result of Creation folding and Big Brother taking control of the remaining stock of merch at that time. Does anyone else have a copy like this?

  • Awful, awful, AWFUL remaster! Heavily compressed/loud,flat... Don't bother, waste of ????

  • I got a copy but it has U circled (United Pressed) in the runout. Must be a U.S. repress. Sounds decent, has a minor edge warp on disc 1. It DID NOT come with a download code but had a sticker on the front advertising such code. I got mine for under $18 on Amazon so for that price I'm happy.

  • Once again, like most modern reissues, they hit the mark with the presentation, beautiful gatefold, nice heavy press. But the sound sounds sterile and suspect has been through the digital ringer. Find abundant copies of this release at Winners Department stores in Canada for $30 CND. Recommended to those that use Crosley record players.

  • Disappointed... most of the comments remarking negative stuff are spot on, the weird part of this edition is that it is not consistent at all, some songs sound better than others, after a good clean up of the vinyl that is, since there was some dust on it despite being sealed. Unless u get a good deal for it (below 17 bucks) i would recommend skipping this and wait for a better edition.

  • i was analyzing the frequencies and the mids are so weak it's amazing, sounds so carboardish... bass is boomy and the highs are a bit sibilant at times, this is seriously an astonishingly bad remaster, i guess i've heard worse but the suggested retail on this was at least about 35.

  • Compared to what it would cost for a first or second copy pressing of this album, this reissue sounds pretty decent. Could it sound better? Of course, but for under $30 I can deal with this, and the 3 disc mp3 download is awesome.

  • To all those wondering how the 5.1 SACD is mastered, here is a quick rundown:Front L/R: nice flat, fat and compressed sausage of sound that is missing some elements, like echo and some guitar solos.Front Centre: Vocals and an odd guitarRear L/R: extremely dynamic, compared to the front. All echo and some uncompressed guitars go here.Subwoofer: It's just there. Curiously absent from the Untitled tracks. What we get as the end result is an album that sounds very dynamic and pleasant (almost like a concert, guess that was the idea with this surround mix) to people with:* SACD equipment* 5.1 sound system(hint: it's not that many people)I highly encourage (all those who can) to toss FLAC files of the surround mix into Audacity and click through every channel. You'll be amazed at all the nuisances like crowd noises, sustained guitar solos, radio chatter and echo that got brutally buried alive under layers and layers of wall-to-wall blazing guitars. Here are some examples of things that exist on the master tape, but are impossible to hearhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gh2G0ehc-rchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5U3mJH6jXQ

  • Found this 2xLP set at the local drugstore of all places. Once opened, to my shock & surprise it turned out to be a US copy pressed at United. Also to my shock & surprise, these 2 fat slabs of hot-wax sound phenomenal. Nice open W-I-D-E stereo sound, cleanly rendered with good detail & a good grip on the bass. Nice remastering job on the music itself as well (as I find the CD to be compressed & congested) but these records sound better the louder you play them. The vinyl itself is flat as a pancake & pretty well dead-silent. Sweet deal for $30!

  • Cool you are happy with a United pressing. That doesn't happen too often. How did you recognize it was pressed by United, please? The matrix info for this submission here does not indicate that. Should there be a different submission for a US pressing maybe? Thank you!

  • hi, i sold my copy for 30 euro, it ist the threefold but on the discs is CRE -LP 189 A' - which copy is this a bootleg?thanks matten

  • I can't complain. No skips and scratches. Sounds ok to me.No superb HiFi but my original CD also sounded very flat.I bought my copy in 2016.

  • I have my copy and when I open it notice an excessive amount of dust on the surfaces of the discs. The sound of the last track on the B-side sounds saturated, (with the Shure M-44/7), at first I thought it was manufacturing problem, but when I changed my capsule, (AT-120E) I noticed that the recording level of the B Disc is so high that with the capsule shure sounds great and with the audiotechnica sounds better, however I had to wash several times the disc to avoid that the excess of dust would ruin even more the bad sound of the album.

  • I was excited to play this on vinyl but this reissue is so bad I thought somebody had changed the settings on my hifi system. Sounds extremely bass heavy and everything sounds flat and lifeless. Even the mastering on the downloads is far far too loud. The only good thing to say about this release is the inclusion of all the bonus material. Vinyl sounds awful though.

  • Sold my SEALED copy for £800.... was bought in London England at the Oxford HMV.

  • Ab-solute horse-shit One of my fav albums from the 90s and I got rid of this after two weeks - such a bad pressing it was making me dislike the album - harsh and fuzzy with no life or body AVOID!!!

  • i thought it was only me before checking further comments... it is impressive how bad they managed to make this sound, and the original price is above 30 bucks... i am glad i found it for about 17 but i still felt kinda mugged since i was expecting an actual nice master as the presentation would suggest and it is just not worth the suggested price... sad for the people who paid full price

  • Just got my copy and both LPs are sides A and B. I'm thinking the plain black sleeves with no hole in the middle to show the label caused this mix-up. Also the apparently poor manufacturing/packaging job by whoever handled this pressing, evident from the sheer volume of complaints expressed in this Reviews section.

  • Bought another copy, this time from a local record store, and got two copies of A/B AGAIN!!! Beware of this possibility when buying the 2014 remaster; if you elect to do so anyway, go for a local record store copy so returns are easy. Extra little tidbit: the store I bought from sent me sides C and D, and I'm pretty sure they pressed it themselves.

  • I'm looking for the first disc if anyone has it for sale , just side A & B only Thank you

  • Hi, I have Disc 1 in VG plus condition, just listed it for sale. Cheers

  • The sound on the reissues is ok, not clear enough but not awful, they are loud enough though.

  • bought the cd in 1995 when I was 15 , bought the vinyl in 2017 now im 36 .... wow sounds totally different , forgot how much I love oasis.

  • The matrixes of this pressing are etched or stamped ? Mines etched.

  • The first batch of these albums had solid black inners. The next batch had die cut holes to reveal the label. Both are 'Firsts', just the slight difference in inner design.

  • Yes, I've added the information, for clarity, to the notes.

  • Thanks Patti12! There are 2 original pressings...one of them is considered first ? Any significant differences between the two ?

  • The_Vinyl_Traveller The matrixes of this pressing are etched or stamped ? Mines etched. They're etched on every copy.

  • This reissue sounds terrible and lifeless. Save your money and buy the creation pressing

  • One of the WORST mastered CDs in the entire CD history.I believe Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Inc. (MFSL) should take this record and remaster it.Since the Big Brother has no competence in hiring professionals, MFSL should step in to fix this.

  • Totally agree. Remastered version didn't fix much, not even the 24 bit HD.

  • Disappointing that this doesn't contain Bonehead's Bank Holiday, in the way that the Definitely Maybe vinyl replica features Sad Song.

  • Might be a dumb question, but are the vinyl copies in this box set different from the standalone release? I upgraded to this box to get the extra stuff from the original 2014 reissue, and this one has a matte finish while the other had gloss. This one also has WAY better sound quality and it's not even comparable.

  • No - they should not be. I have both as well, appear exactly the same.

  • I have Two copies. First copy buy in juni 2016, No jump but crack and pops for all song.(but sound is ok)i decide to buy a second copy in Amazon (sept 2016), but Jump in "Dont look back in anger" and some might say. I think that the problem is for 3000 pressing.... Direct return to amazon.... I keep my first copy....I wait again one year for buy a new copy....(there is not the same inscription on my first copy (witheout jump...number) and my secund copy with jump (letter).

  • The whole brickwalled album, minus Champagne Supernova, crushed down to a single picture disc? I can only imagine how this sounds...*cringe*

  • I have it. It's awful. Got it years ago before finding a full album was easy/cheap.Don't regret it, kinda cool to have.

  • in case you are wondering about the quality of the repress.. TIDAL has both of them, original and remaster, online. So make a test account and listen to both of them. Cheers!

  • Had 3 copies of this and dont look back jumped on them all. Would rather spend the extra money and get an original

  • Did they not correct any phasing problems when they pressed it or something?

  • Return and wait 1 year....only solution actualy. I keep my first copy.

  • my first copy have crack and pops but no Jump... I think that no editing is correct...

  • Same problem here with 2 copies, Third one will no doubt be returned too. Exact same jump on them.

  • Maybe it's the first pressing for other country than uk, i've this version with a little sticker CB 311 , code for france .

  • This is the version I have and I know for a fact that I bought it in 1998 (ordered from WHSmith!) so most likely is a 2nd pressing?

  • I've been digging for a long time, but I have yet to see or hear about a MPO copy that does not have the cross-out/strikeout appearance. If anyone has MPO written without any modification, please speak up. Otherwise this version should probably be updated to reflect the strikeout. This would clear up any confusion. As it stands, I consider my copy (MPO with strikeout) to be absent from the list of all versions, though I have a strong hunch that this version (MPO without any indication of a strikeout) may indeed be a match for my copy.

  • Yes, the MPO is scratched over like it's been crossed out. What does this tell you?

  • Is the MPO text in your runout scratched out/over? Does it have a strikeout appearance?

  • Can't see why this is so expensive. It's clearly not rare, as there are always so many on offer at Discogs and eBay.

  • First: If anyone learned anything from The Kinks, it’s that unless you’re The Osmonds, you should never venture into a musical career with your family.Second: Oasis did not want to be The Beatles ... they merely looked back with wide dilated eyes, superbly paying homage to a band who shaped not only a decade in musical history, but for all time. So, for some odd reason while listening to Oasis, I fancy holding the vinyl jacket for “Revolver,” imagining that perhaps by some time-tripping slight of hand, I’ll find the faces of Oasis hidden in among the strands of Beatle hair, sure that nearly everyone listening to the lyrics of Oasis don’t get the jokes, and don’t understand the hidden messages, because they [the listener] have never walked slowly down the hall, faster than a cannon ball.Third: All Oasis albums have hidden messages buried in the album artwork ... take for example “Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants,” a salute to The Beatles in itself, then there's the title, it's written so that it takes on the shape of the letter E, one of the codewords for the drug Ecstasy, in much the same fashion as Lennon did with the song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.Oasis: Much like The Beatles, Oasis burst onto the musical scene like an exploding supernova, providing a bit of fresh air when compared to the the “woe is me” gloom and doom of the ’80’s, delivering long overdue melodies backed by intelligent lyrics, washed in multi-layered sonic guitar work, and all while presenting messages that were both optimistic and hedonistic. No single album delivered by the band can be considered a master piece, though (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? comes close, based mostly on the hit single “Wonderwall,” and the epic “Champagne Supernova.” Considering all of their albums, Oasis has been blessed by sensational, and plagued by more than their fair share of lack-luster productions ... at times, with both aspects on the same album, where like their heroes, The Beatles, they should have been striving for better production values, upping the ante, until like The Fab Four, they had nowhere else to go.With all of this in mind, let me say that all Oasis songs are not created equally well. I for one, and I’m sure most people, define Oasis by their mystical adventures, and not their pounding harder edged screamers, numbers that work very well in concert, yet not in one’s living room. And all this leaves me to suggest one option, that you take the time to dissect all of the music presented by Oasis and create a blistering body of work that will last for all time, never being locked into the short lived Brit-Pop sound of the ’90’s. So keep these, and let the others float down stream: (Disc 1) Live Forever, Supersonic, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Cast No Shadow, Champagne Supernova, Fade In-Out, Be Here Now (Disc 2) Go Let It Out, Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is, Sunday Morning Call, Songbird, She Is Love, All Around The World, You've Got The Heart Of A Star, Cage (Disc 3) Little James, Let There Be Love, Shock Of The Lightning, I'm Outta Time, (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady, Falling Down, To Be Where There's Life, Nature Of Reality, Don't Go Away … I spend a good deal of time arranging these songs, so please, give them a listen.Post Script: The original meaning of Morning Glory revolved around waking in the morning after having had a very good and very pleasant sexual dream, resulting in a delightful, almost disembodied feeling of mild euphoria. In the album (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, it's not so much that the boys walk up with a pleasant sexual feeling, but wake up to the notion that drugs are not the answer, certainly pleasant and mind altering, but like a sexual dream, hardly the real thing.Review by Jenell Kesler

  • I've watched the comparison videos and while, yes, from there the original sounds best, this reissue is listenable to me. I can't afford an original at it's current price point so this one will satisfy me until maybe one day I'll be able to get one.

  • One sealed copy sold for 500 €!!! What a bargain :)))

  • Define "upsharp", please. I've never heard that word, and it's not coming up in Google as an English word...Want to know how to tell bootleg?

  • I thought the 2009 pressing was just ott loud!.. Not punchy at all (only thing i liked was the different mix of boneheads bank holiday) Is this the case with this one .. Is it much worse?I've got an original creation in cerry good condition but don't want to wear it out

  • The new pressing is actually the worst pressing :(. Creation sounds the best.

  • Not that impressed with the sound...it sounds really loud and noisy. There are two skips in Don't look back and may in Some Might Say, probably because it's loudness. Disappointed. The remastered digital audio sounds fine though.

  • The sound is a bit disappointing. The first few tracks are very noisy for a newly remastered re-issue. It gets progressively better sounding as the album continues, each side sounding better than the last, but still, it could have been a lot better. The records are very clean looking, I can't see any dirt or anything that could be causing the issues. It almost feels like whoever worked on it started out not knowing how to level everything and then gradually getting the hang of it track by track. I know that's probably not the case but it's the feeling I get listening to it. Anyway, it's a good album, but I wouldn't recommend this pressing unless it's on sale.

  • This is the worst pressing of these three actually. Check the comparison.

  • These retail for £100 - £130. Definitely not good value for money no maybe about it. Should have costed £50-£70.

  • Its worth every cent

  • DEFINITELY MAYBE?? :)

  • I think it's the best sounding issue. But still expensive as hell. The reissues are more compressed and a little bit lifeless.

  • The best of the worst :))

  • To be honest all issues of this album have terrible sound quality, but don't get me wrong I really do enjoy this album.

  • Unfortunately, this remastered version is just as bad as the original, and even worse by a small margin. Brickwall everywhere. There is a mastering glitch on this new remastered version: Track 04 "Don't Look Back In Anger", at 1:23 has a tape problem. If you want to enjoy this record, I recommend the SACD 5.1 downmix - or - some vinyl editions that seem to be a little, little better.

  • Pearl Jam? I just got my reissue copy and LP1 is Pearl Jam -Ten with the correct Oasis label. I could tell something was wrong before I even played it because there were 6 songs on side A instead of 3. Did this happen to anyone else?

  • Holy shit, this is hilarious. Seems clear to me that the manufacturing/packaging process with this album was pretty haphazard: my copy came with duplicates of LP1 (sides A and B) instead of copies of LP1 and LP2 (sides C and D). Not exactly as absurd of an occurrence as yours, but it certainly tells you something.

  • The same thing happened to me. I just received the LPs and Side 1 is Pearl Jam! Now what do we do!?

  • While what happened to you is a total bummer, you bought Oasis and got Pearl Jam instead, it's kinda awesome. Like the people at the pressing plant just thought 'they're both classic '90s rock albums, no one will care'. Or maybe it's some sort of Anti-Britain, Pro-America industrial sabotage.

  • Same with me but Side 1 is correct Oasis tracks, side 2 is Pearl Jam.

  • Post this on the forum. Probably get it answered sooner.

  • Comparison of three pressings:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrHSOmWQM8Y

  • It sounds okay. The bass is pretty heavy and it's not punching very much, it's just loud.

  • Yes, I definitely had to turn the bass down a little.

  • Are there any other ways to identify the 2008 bootleg other than the unsharp print?

  • I got this vinyl whose matrix is different from the one above. It has no 'Damont' & has MPO stamped. This is abootleg or another version of the vinyl...Anyway it sounds very well

  • I also have this copy with the MPO scratched out, the guy I bought it from swears it is an original. He said he owned a record store and the copy was sent to him from the manufacturer. Interested to know if it is real or not.

  • I got this "MPO scratched over" pressing too. Don't know if it's a bootleg.

  • Does this not have Champagne Supernova? Or is it contained in B5 "Untitled" along with the second excerpt of The Swamp Song?

  • It doesn’t include Champagne Supernova at all I’m afraid ☹️

  • It doesn't include Champagne Supernova, it just ends!! Criminal! Bit disappointing

  • No, unfortunately it's missing from this LP. :-/

  • Needless to say, this is a staple in the 90s music. While the CD version is one of the earliest victims of the so called loudness war, the 2x LP version is overall far better sounding, giving justice to the masterpiece it is.

  • UK rock at its absolute finest. Brilliant lyrics that you dont need to understand, some you do. UK rock second coming, with complete competant songs, guitar laiden anthems that would make there mark on the greatest decade for music and youth culture since the 60s. More ballads on this than the first album, but unlike no second album in history, it firmly fixed itself in 90s youth culture as the greatest second album of all time.
